Terra Cotta

Our Terra Cotta is a red earthenware clay baked at about 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and requires 14 days to complete the firing process. It sometimes acquire a white wash on the surface due to soluble salts of lime being deposited as moisture in the clay evaporates. This gives a classical, aged appearance like that of old world planters. Although low fired, our terra cotta planters are thick walled and treated with a transparent compound to make them frost resistant and reliable in moderate winter climates.
